Service Description

In this 6-hour session we will make 4 items 1.8 Handheld Round Punch Taper/Forging to Dimension some 3/4" Round Bar 4140* -7 1/2" down to a 1/4" Diameter Flat Tip. Punch end will be filed flat. Struck end will have a taper and be slightly crowned to prevent mushrooming. The working end should have a long taper to allow drifting after punching. Heat treated. 1.9 Hot-Cut Chisel Tapered/Forged to Dimension 3/4" Round Bar 4140* -7 1/2" to a 1" Wide by 1/16" or 1/8" Cutting edge set to an acute angle around 30 degrees. Tapered and crowned on the struck end. Heat treated. 1.10 Hammer Eye Drift Spreading/Forged to Dimension a 3/4" Round Bar 4140* - 4-6" will have Parallel Sides in a 1/2" x 7/8" Flattened Oval. Struck end should be tapered for 1 1/4" minimum to allow the drift to clear hole. Drifting end should have a long taper with smooth and rounded edges. The center of the drift should have smooth parallel sides for 1 or more inches with no aggressive hammer marks. 1.11 Slot Punch or Slitting Punch Taper/Forged to Dimension a 3/4" Round Bar 4140* - 7 1/2" 1/8" x 7/8" Tip with Rounded Edges Tapered and crowned struck end. Punch should be flat on the bottom. Edges should be ≈7/8" for depth of 1” to allow easier punch removal. Edges of punch must be rounded. End can be ≈1/16 wider to reduce drag when punching.
